Lace Doily Silkscreen

Greek lace doily.
An object of domestic care, memory and feminine gesture.

On its surface, I silkscreen a red monochrome photograph of a woman’s hand.
A hand from another generation, or perhaps the same one.

The image does not erase the embroidery, it enters into dialogue with it.
The past is not removed, it is activated.

The doily shifts from decorative object to artistic body.
Memory becomes material.

Ελληνικό σεμεδάκι 
Ένα αντικείμενο οικιακής φροντίδας, μνήμης και γυναικείας χειρονομίας.

Πάνω του τυπώνω, με μεταξοτυπία, ένα γυναικείο χέρι σε κόκκινη μονοχρωμία.
Το χέρι μιας άλλης γενιάς, ή ίσως της ίδιας.

Η φωτογραφία δεν έρχεται να καλύψει το κέντημα, αλλά να συνομιλήσει μαζί του.
Το παρελθόν δεν σβήνεται, ενεργοποιείται.

Το σεμεδάκι μετατρέπεται από διακοσμητικό αντικείμενο σε εικαστικό σώμα.
Η μνήμη γίνεται υλικό.
